Flame-retardant embroidery
Flame-retardant embroidery is designed for applications where decorative or identifying embroidery must meet demanding requirements for heat and flame protection. Logos, lettering and emblems on protective garments must retain their appearance and structure without compromising the performance of the overall textile system.
This makes flame-retardant embroidery particularly suitable for protective clothing, firefighting and emergency service uniforms, heat-protective garments and technical textiles. In these applications, the embroidery thread must not only deliver clean and reliable stitch formation, but also maintain its properties when exposed to elevated temperatures or flame.
For flame-retardant embroidery, the thread must combine dependable machine processing with suitable thermal behaviour. Self-extinguishing and non-melting properties are especially important to support the performance requirements of protective applications.
Technical and functional embroidery is particularly suitable for smart textiles, sensors, conductive structures, textile electronics and technical textile applications.
AMANN embroidery thread recommendation
For flame-retardant embroidery, we recommend N-tech CS Embroidery.
N-tech CS Embroidery is AMANN’s high-performance meta-aramid embroidery thread developed specifically for flame-retardant and heat-protective applications. Made from Nomex® DuPont™ meta-aramid, the cut staple spun thread is self-extinguishing and non-melting.
It offers permanent temperature resistance up to approximately 200°C, with decomposition occurring at around 370°C. Its burning behaviour is tested according to DIN EN ISO 15025, making it suitable for demanding embroidery applications in protective textiles.
N-tech CS Embroidery is available in embroidery thread sizes 30 and 40 and is certified according to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 product class I, appendix 6, as well as Pro-Care certified for industrial laundry according to DIN EN ISO 15797.
